Cards drawn in an overview spread:
Card 1, Page of Cups
Card 2, Nine of Swords
Card 3, The Lovers
Card 4, Four of Pentacles

Interpretation:

Card One, YOUR CURRENT SITUATION: The Page of Cups represents an imaginative person who is able to find inspiration in the most unlikely places. You should be open to ideas which spring from unexpected situations. The Page of Cups can also signify the beginning of a new project, albeit in its nascent form of a sudden idea. Your inspiration has arrived or is just about to.

Card Two, WHAT IS HOLDING YOU BACK:
Despite these flashes of inspiration, a profound feeling of worry may be preventing you from moving forward. The Nine of Swords is a card of stress and anxiety. Something is weighing on your mind, or perhaps you a feel a distinct lack of self confidence. Bear in mind though that Swords are to do with mental energy – so the Nine of Swords represents anxieties in the mind, rather than an outside force holding you back. You need to change something about the way you think.

Card Three, WHAT YOU SHOULD BE FOCUSING ON:
Put simply, you need to focus on what you love – that could be an activity, an idea, a hobby… In the context of a question about career it is also useful to think of The Lovers as signifying some kind of harmonious union. This could be a partnership with a like-minded collaborator for instance. The Lovers also suggests the idea of making contact – you need to reach out to others for assistance or collaboration.

Card Four, NEAR FUTURE OUTCOME:
As an outcome for a question about money and business, the Four of Pentacles has both positive and negative connotations. He represents stability and financial security – someone who has acquired wealth and is unlikely to squander it. However, he is clutching to his coins desperately – he has become a miser, obsessed with material gain at the expense of all else. This card should be taken both as a signifier of good fortune to come – but also as a warning – those who worship Mammon too fervently risk becoming its slave. Everybody, including you, will benefit if you share your profits among the community.

Your result:
First roll- PAST: 2;4;4;6- one goat, two camels, one horse
Second roll- PRESENT: 1;1;1;2- three sheep, one goat (cat grabbed bone)
Third roll- FUTURE: 1;6;6;4- one sheep, two horses, one camel

Interpretation:
PAST: While it could be better, this was still a strong throw ending on a resounding peak. An encouragingly positive history.
PRESENT: …and this could not be a stronger contrast. Very troubling indication for the present. Now might not be the right time?
FUTURE: A slow start, but the bones landed even more positively than the first throw. Something good is coming.

Nur's tarot speadCards drawn in Three-card spread,
with forth major arcana card above:
Card 1, Six of Cups
Card 2, Two of Swords (reversed)
Card 3, Five of Cups
Card 4 at the top,
The Empress (reversed)

Interpretation:

Card One, You at the present time: Cups signify emotion and frame of mind. All the cups in this card are upright, demonstrating mirth and balance. There is an optimistic quality to this card; dreams feel obtainable.

Currently things appear to be going nicely for you emotionally. This is a happy card often representing joy, with child-like innocence, alongside happy whimsical moments. Love and support are around you now.

Card Two, Immediate future: The swords are often a sign you need to give an aspect of your life careful and considered thought. It looks as if you are about to face a decision that you are hesitant to make or you feel stuck somehow, but fear making a move forward. The Two of Swords often represents a reluctance to face a truth that you’d much rather ignore. When the card is reversed it makes the decision imperative. If there’s something in your life that you’re unsure about, whether it is a job you dislike or a relationship that isn’t working as you’d hoped, this card suggests that circumstances could push you to face this and it is urging you to choose wisely.

Card Three, Distant future: Another ‘emotion’ card this time depicting apprehension, even disappointment. But the cloak the woman is wearing in the card is red, signifying passion and courage which will prevail. She has the support from those nearest to her.

This card is like standing at a crossroads and being not quite sure which route is best to take. There’s a possibility that something needs to be walked away from and doing so won’t be easy, even if it is for the best in the long-term. Very few of us like change as it creates uncertainty. This is how it may feel, but deep inner-strength and the support of others will be on your side.

Card Four, The big picture : The Empress encompasses all that is feminine: fertility, abundance both in sexuality and materiality, beauty and nurture/motherhood.

As this card is reversed, it suggests perhaps a part of you has been lost, perhaps for the sake of someone else – compromising your needs to please others. A loss of clarity, or financial difficulty can occur when this card is reversed, but none of this will be forever, you have the power within you to change it.

SUMMARY: Over all some challenges await you, but it’s not all bad, the first three cards are ‘minor’ ones, so what is ahead will not be ‘huge’, but there is advice:

Make decisions wisely and carefully. Do not lose sight of who you are and what you need; look after yourself, especially health-wise. Don’t be too hard on yourself if things don’t always go according to plan!

This is a transitional period for you. It is something that needs to happen for you to go forward and it will benefit you in the long run. You have support there for you when you need it.

Cards drawn in the
‘Window Overlooking the Stairway’ spread
(read as drawn from bottom to top):
.
Bottom: The Hermit
Step 2: Three of Wands
Step 3: The Tower
Step 4: Eight of Cups
Window: Princess of Swords

Interpretation:

I’ve used the Thoth Tarot, which is my speciality, and I use a technique known as ‘Elemental Dignity’ rather than reversed cards. This technique uses the elemental and astrological correspondences of the Tarot Cards to decide whether they have a good meaning or a bad meaning, which allows me to have shades of grey, instead of the GOOD/BAD system of card reversals (upsidedown cards shuffled randomly into the deck,) which I find silly and not representative of real life.

I put down five cards for you, in a spread I was taught by a Tarot reader from Osaka. The spread is called called ‘The Window Overlooking the Stairway’ (I’m told it sounds a lot better in Japanese.) Here we your four steps up, exploring the direction you need to go in, and the window overlooking it all, which is a card giving some advice that you might not have thought about before.

So, we start at the bottom of the stairs, with a card that represents your general situation at the moment – here we have The Hermit. He’s a major arcana, a card representing a general situation in your life rather than a set of specific choices you’ve made. I’d say that at the moment things you previously held dear are falling away and seeming less important, perhaps you’re reaching a new phase of life or some projects/commitments are coming to their natural end. Either way, you’re finding yourself withdrawn from things and feeling that the WHY of things is more important than the WHAT/WHERE. You’re seeking answers, and they’re taking you away from what you know.

The Next step up is what to increase. Here we have the Three of Wands. What to increase is your ambition and progress – take the new aspects of your life, the elements you want to enhance, and run with them. From this card I’d say that although you’re asking what your next step should be, there is a specific new path already open, and you’d be well advised to explore it.

Step Three is what to decrease. This step is The Tower. In Jainism, before someone can devote their life to the study of a spiritual path they have to achieve ‘right livelihood,’ the practise of creating an equilibrium in their daily life that gives them the stability to concentrate on enlightenment. I’d suggest this card is telling you the same thing – achieve stability so that you can advance. Remove the tensions in your life, make sure your incomings and outgoings match and balance yourself against emotional strife. Once you’ve got this balance you’ll be able to move on.

Step Four, the top of the stairs, represents the way forward. This card is the Eight of Cups, and it represents discipline and emotional objectivity. It isn’t an easy card, as doing what you know should be done, and having to obey rules instead of following your instincts can feel restrictive and joyless, but this is your next step. Here we have a card that shows now is not the time to indulge the self and follow your instincts. Now is the time to exercise self discipline and do what you know objectively should be done. Point yourself at the most difficult, restrictive path and head for it!

Finally, we have the window overlooking the stairway. This card is a piece of general advice to think about through all of the steps. This card is the Princess of Swords. She represents a young, undeveloped force with a lot of potential. She is the Earthy part of Air, and as such there is a little friction between the Airy and Earthy parts of her nature. When crystals and dust travel in the air, we get lightning and thunder. This is the Princess’ way of bringing the high concepts of Air into fruition by dragging them down to earth. Its advice to you is to seek your spiritual path in the difficult, the dull and the mundane. Seek the spiritual in your everyday troubles and obligations, at work, at home, with friends and family. That is the next stage of your spiritual path.

Cards drawn:
Two of Swords
Two of Wands
Hanged Man

.

.

Interpretation:

To start we can see that this reading really indicates a transition. The card that represents your past is the Two of Swords, showing that there was a sense of balance in your life and the decisions you made up to this point, that you were ready for new endeavours with both feet firmly planted on the ground. Then comes the Two of Wands, representing your present, which again is very balanced and level headed. It shows boldness and courage and means, in terms of the question, that in trying to get this job you have done everything conceivable to obtain it. It also shows a dominant personality, which may have been necessary for the job. Finally we come to The Hanged Man, a card of change and abandonment, this shows that your life will definitely be changing, but could mean that with the new job, or without the new job, there may be happenings that you couldn’t have planned for. From the first two cards it seems like you will be getting this job. However the Hanged Man shows that in getting the job you may not be as satisfied as you were hoping, and that it may just be a stepping stone to the goal you really want to obtain.
